On behalf of the International Association of Chinese Nephrologists (IACN), I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all of you to attend the 5th International Congress of Chinese Nephrologists (ICCN) in Hong Kong from Dec 13-15, 2024.
The IACN is proud to have this 5th ICCN hosted by the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology. Dr KM Chow is the Chair of Local Organising Committee and Dr Sunny Wong and Dr Desmond Yap are Scientific Co-Chairs. The Scientific Programme is well set with many international and local experts around the world as faculty. The celebration of the 45th Anniversary of Hong Kong Society of Nephrology will be organized during the conference.
We are pleased to have International Society for Hemodialysis (ISHD) and Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcome (KDIGO) as our partnering organizations and there will be designated ISHD-IACN and KDIGO-IACN joint symposia. We planned to organize a “Kidney Donation Roundtable Workshop” to find ways to enhance Kidney donation and transplantation and also a “Renal Pathology Pre-course”. Abstract submission will open soon.
We had 4 very successful ICCN: 1st ICCN in Hong Kong in 2015 and 2nd ICCN in Taipei in 2017, 3rd ICCN in Nanjing in 2019 and 4th ICCN in Guangzhou in 2023. The Scientific contents, academic and social interactions and participation from global Chinese Nephrologists were very impressive and we expect a even more successful congress in Hong Kong this year. There will be travel grant awards for young nephrologists from the developing regions of China.
Last year, the IACN had several very successful programmes including IACN-ISN-HKSN Scholarship, IACN ISPD CSN Collaboration – Chinese translation of ISPD 2023 Catheter related Infection Guideline, IACN Research Grant, Renal book for patients in Chinese – “Living well with kidney disease”, KDIGO Implementation Summit on Diabetes Management in CKD: From Primary to Collaborative Care and the IACN NCD Forum. We expect the 5th ICCN will be our premier event this year.
